1 June 2025 in Melbourne, supported by Rocket Science.

Tucked deep up the back of Yarraville is an industrial area, copious roadworks and Kindred Studios and Bandroom. It's been years since I was last at this great little venue and I wish more bands I am interested in would play here.

Rocket Science, though...am I interested in them? As a 90s kid the name recall is there, however I just do not remember any of their songs. Listening to their set did not alter this. Perhaps it's because they were more of a 2000s band. In any case, like many of their era they are four dudes, covering drums, bass and guitar, some wearing hats, now looking a bit grizzled.

Rocket Science's opening number was fun, an instrumental featuring heavy use of theremin. Who doesn't love a theremin? Something was up with the mix though and the set sounded a bit off, like they were playing out of sync although I would have bet that they weren't actually out of sync.

Zoobombs of course were the main event and they rocked out royally. They're a turned-up-to-11 type of band that's simultaneously as tight as Bowser's trousers and completely off the hook.

Hilariously, Zoobombs' sign off lasted what felt like half an hour. Lead singer Don Matsuo would yell his "thank you!!!" and we'd get those last few big notes then...nope they're going to have another half a song. Then more thank yous and big notes.

Naturally there was an encore and honestly I was surprised there wasn't a second encore. Zoobombs, they make sure you get your money's worth.
