MIP/STO

MIP/STO
real stone awnings

Mipasto, a local pizza shop, has closed.

When they were first preparing to open many years ago, I observed with interest as they covered every opaque external surface with stick-on rustic stonemasonry.

Next, the name 'IMPASTO' went up. I can only assume that they found out too late that the name Impasto had already been taken by another business, so they simply switched the 'I' and the 'M' around. No point fussing about these things.

At some point during this process, half the 'A' fell off making it MIP/STO. Which is what we have called it since then (even after they fixed the 'A').

Mipsto have been good to me. They have furnished me with many a late night slice of ham and pineapple pizza right when I needed it most. Even while the red pigments in their sign and adhesive stonework faded, they abode.

Until now. I am sad to see them close.

However...sunrise, sunset. A Middle-Eastern bakery is opening in Mipsto's place and that is pretty exciting.
